It’s been our mission to awaken performance potential in businesses across the UK for over a decade and a half now. Gaining a coveted finalist spot at the European Content Awards is a testament to our commitment to this mission.

Read on to find out more about our agency, and the compelling content and social media marketing activity that landed us in this spot.

Our award-nominated work

We’re thrilled to be a finalist for the ongoing creative work we have been completing for our long-standing client, Aquaread, specialists in highly precise, scientific water monitoring equipment.

Laying the foundations

In August 2022, we began a content and social media campaign for Aquaread with the overarching goal of attracting organic traffic and boosting brand awareness within a strict budget.

We created a campaign strategy that took us up to June 2023, identifying core themes that served many of their audiences’ needs and wants — from helping to form basic understanding of parameters like water salinity, to reviewing the state of the UK’s rivers.

Enacting strategy

Once we’d begun to lay down these foundations (regular blog creation, upload, and social amplification), we completed another ideation phase in June 2023 with many more ‘specialist’ and niche topics.

We also ran targeted organic social media — creating posts not only to increase overall brand awareness and website traffic, but to display Aquaread as thought leaders and build trust with new and existing audiences.

Seeing results

The /blog growth curve over the period of August 2022-December 2023 was significant, with an average increase of 440% in clicks alone.

Comparing the last three months year on year we can see that we have introduced pioneering terms for the site – like ‘industrial waste’, with this query having brought in 105 clicks in the last 3 months alone. Other newly ranked terms include ‘causes of flood’, ‘ammonia in water’, ‘ocean pollution solutions’, and more. These are ideal for Aquaread – to be ranking for non-branded, scientific, specific terms.

Content

Over the 16-month period of August 2022-November 2023, blogs have seen a surge in events in GA4, (clicks to other pages, form submissions, add to cart, etc). Almost 1000 of those have been conversion actions, including add to cart and purchases. Comparing this to the previous 16-month period, we saw an increase of 758%. In total, since beginning our content work for them, blog-conversion actions have increased more than eightfold.

Social

The efficacy of our social strategy can be seen in our engagement rate (at the top end of optimal rates at the moment). Across Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn we have grown their audience by 8.7% over the entire period. Since August 2022, they have seen their post-link click rate increase by 11.1% too.

Social has also translated to thousands of GA4 events in the period of August 2022 to November 2023, with 1.7% of those being conversion actions.

Aquaread sells niche products to a niche audience, and there are not huge search volumes for their desired organic terms. But we’ve responded to these ‘conditions’ with quality, specialist content, exceeding Google’s expectations. Google wants E-E-A-T, and the Aquaread blog has it in spades – these aren’t regurgitated blogs, but well-researched, fact-driven, insightful content.

Our Creative Team, finalists

Our specialist Creative Team is responsible for the delivery of all content for our clients — from press releases and whitepapers to blogs, social media posts, and functional website copy.

A dedicated bunch, they work hard to deliver carefully curated content strategies that take into account client objectives, seasonality, SEO best practices, audience profiles, trends, and, of course, originality. It’s this approach that helped us achieve the results we did for Aquaread — harnessing the perfect blend of the client’s sector specialism with our own expertise.

With some pretty big accreditations under our belt, including a feature on The Drum’s Top Digital Agencies list in 2021, finalist status in the European Content Awards is another impressive string to our bow. More than that, though, it is also a testament to the work and innovations of the team and, above all else, evidence that our approach is driving results — and that’s what matters to us the most.

Liz Quinn, our Senior Creative Manager, had the following to say when hearing the news about our status as a finalist:

“Creating content in today’s digital world is a challenge. The web is saturated with people and brands trying to make a mark and steal a tiny slice of a reader’s ever-decreasing attention span – and that’s tough to do. That’s part of the reason that it’s so satisfying to see the great results we’ve been able to achieve for our client, Aquaread, on what is a really small budget, in a really niche sector. If anything, seeing results in these circumstances feels like a double win!

I’m so proud of the team, who never fail to impress me in their ability to achieve incredible results for our clients across the board, and I’m proud to see our team, and our agency, represented up against such incredible competitors.”
